NOTES OH FIXTURE [By St. Clair.] Punters started off well in the Hornby High-weight Handicap when they made Scold ft good favourite, as she"had the race, in safe keeping nearly two furlongs from home.... In the Dark and Garonne led over the early stages, and rounding the far, turn (about six furlpngs from home) Garonne ran to the front, and he led In the Dark, Silver ; Ring,“ Knight ■ Commander, and Scold across the top. Garonne ran up to Tn the Dark on the homo turn, and they were followed. into the straight by Scold and Knight Commander, who were also running together. Just after passing the false rail Scold took charge and was not afterwards challenged, winning by two lengths from Cape Gabo, who came fast to beat Master Dingle and Knight Commander, who finished together, by a length for second money. Studley Royal and Garonne were next. * • # * Several, horses broke through the barrier at the start of the Trial Stakes, and Royal Rank and Royal Lassie ran nearly a circuit before being pulled up. The Dictator, from next the rails, was the first to jump out, but at the end pf a furlong Johnemby ran past and led Baldoon and The Dictator round the far turn. These three were in charge from a bunched field as they raced across the top, and were first into, the straight from Craiglea, Dranoel, and Great Night. At the distance Craiglea was just in front, then Great Night put in her run, and drawing away, won by three lengths from Dranoel. who beat Craiglea a good length. Stylist was a short length away next, just in front of Johnemby and Baldoon.

Shikari, who was a few’ pounds’ better favourite than Gold Flight for the Middle Park Plate, gave trouble at the barrier and was badly left. Don’t Forget and Gold Flight were the smartest to find” their feet, then the latter w’as steadied and Don’t Forget ran out over two lengths clear of Oinapo, with Gold Flight fairly wide out next. As they straightened up for home Omapo and Gold Flight joined Don’t Forget, and at the false rail Doria moved up next the rails. Then 1 Gold Flight showed clear, hut at the distance Doria got up on the inside of her. Gold Flight hung on for about half a furlong, but Doria bad her measure and beat her home a good length. Omapo was four lengths away third, a short head in front of Great Swoop, Don’t Forget next.

Sovereign Lady, £sl better fancied than Queen of Song in the Midsummer Handicap, never flattered her backers, but Queen of Song, ran a really good race. Night Dress led The Wrecker and Willie Win into the back, then Willie .Win-moved up into second place, and after passing, the seven-furlong post ran to the front. He was two lengths clear .at the far. turn, where Queen of Song moved up alongside Night Dress into second place, with Wine Card at the head .of the others. Willie Win’ was two lengths clear from QueenJM Song, as they raced across the where Sovereign Lady made a forward move, and Settlement was a bad last.; Into the straight Willie Win was still two lengths clear of Queen of Song an<l Wine Card; He held his advantage to win by a good length from Queen of Song. Settlement finished well another length away to beat Wine Card a neck. The Wrecker and Sovereign Lady were next.

Priiderit Prince, a good favourite for the Halsvvell Handicap, ran a bad race at the tail of the field over the first six furlongs. The field ran abreast over the first two furlongs, then The Duel showed out and led Metric and Prince Minerva along the back. ,At the far turn The Dual was showing the way to Prince Minerva, Queen Linda, and Fundy Bay, and they ran into the straight in the same order. Inside the distance Fundy Bay made a good challenge, but The Dual hung on well and beat him half a length. Dividend, who got a good run next the rails from the distance, was a similar distance thirds then there was a gap to Princess Minerva, Prudent Prince, and Chit Chat.

Atreus. who was backed to a short price for the Lyttelton Plate Handicap, had every chance, being one of the smartest to begin, but Retrogression, who started from wide out. was always with him,, and over the last furlong drew right away to beat him by three lengths. Speedwell and Highland Dance were prominent in the early stages, but faded when the run home was entered, and Stvlosa got up to take third money, with Alreus and Speedwell next.

Alma and Counterblast were the smartest out of the barrier in the Craven Plate, and after a furlong had been covered Concertoitcb ran up on the outside of them. Racing across the top .Concertpitcb had drawn clear from Counterblast and Alma. Concertpitcb was first into the straight from Alrna and Counterblast, then Paper Slipper moved up alongside bis stnblemate. At the distance Nigbtcalm challenged, but Concertoitcb hung on well and beat him a good head. Paper Slipper was three lengths away third, a head in front of f

Counterblast. Then there was a gap to Alma. Lady Leigh broke down badly during the running. • * * * Philibun and St. Cedric were left at the start for the Post Handicap, and Passenger led Jed Forest, Crack o’ Down, and Tantivy along the back and round the far turn. There was little change racing across the top, and Passenger led Tantivy, Cradk o’ Dawn, Jed Forest, and Not Out into the straight. Then the last-named moved up, and, finishing wide out, caught the leaders nearly a furlong from: home and won easily by a length from Cradk o’ Dawn, who , beat Passenger two lengths. Tantivy, Jed Forest, and Rebellion were next.
