INVASION OF BELGIUM
FLANS FOUND IN NAZI PLANE FULL DETAILS OF DEFENCES GIVEN LONDON. January 22. (Received January 23, at 2 p.m.) The ‘ Daily Telegraph’s ’ Liege correspondent states that the voluminous document seized from the German plane which made a forced landing on January 10 comprised a detailed plan for the German invasion of Belgium. Careful inquiries disposed of the possibility that it was a “ plant ” to keep up war nerves. The papers contained a list of the supposed dispositions of all Belgian units, a survey of the weakest points in the defences, dossiers oh the psychology of each corps commander, the exact position of each headquarters, also a list of German divisions secretly sent to the frontier. Official quarters state that Belgium was within an ace of invasion on January 13. Though no date was mentioned in the document, it is believed that the Germans did not attack because the document robbed them of the advantage of surprise.
