SECONDARY SCHOOL CRICKET

WIN FOR CHRIST'S COLLEGE The continuance of the Christ’s Col-lege-High School match yesterday afternoon soon saw the local team disposed of. When Partridge left, shortly after the resumption, the end was in sight, and with the exception of Rennie, with 16, no one stayed long. Partridge’s 42 was a patient and valuable innings, and he was unlucky to be caught in trying to hook a short ball. College, with 23 runs to get, lost two wickets with only 6 on the board, Williams being completely beaten by Partridge and Wright brilliantly caught by Gough close in off the same bowler. Monaghan, who impressed as a promising left-hander, and Castle, the captain, obtained the required runs without much difficulty. The College fielding was again smart and clean, though two or three catches were dropped, and the Otago out-cricket showed a marked improvement on the first day’s display. Their running between the wickets was much better than in the first innings, but was still far from being perfect. Details:— CHRIST’S COLLEGE. First innings ... ... 199
