STRAND
‘ Broadway Musketeers,’ the Warner Brothers picture at the Strand, is concerned chicily with the fortunes and misfortunes of a trio of girls portrayed by Margaret Lindsay, Ann Sheridan, and Marie Wilson, but there is another young actress who will also come in for a goodly share of the glory —the six-year-old Janet Chapman, who. scored in ‘ Little Miss Thoroughbred.’ This is her second picture, and again she is given plentiful opportunity to display her ability. For the three older, girls the film marks new advancement in their careers. Miss Lindsay, who usually portrays gentle, dignified types, has a strongly dramatic role as a woman who rushes headlong toward destruction to satisfy her search for thrills. Ann Sheridan, as a cabaret singer, gets a chance to have her voice heard in two song numbers, and Mario Wilson gives another splendid euaracterisation of a different type. The male members of the cast of ‘ Broadway Musketeers ’ are headed by John Lite!, and they include as sinister a group of villains as have ever been gathered for one picture, notable among them being the darkly-handsome Anthony Averill, as well as Dick Purcell, Richard Bond, Horace MacMahon, and Dewev Robinson. Telling the dramatic story of grim-faced boys who challenge society for a chance in life, Universal's production of ‘ Code of the Streets ' supports. In addition to the rough-and-ready band of juvenile stars, the •“ Little Tough Guys,” the ewiftlypaced story features • Harry Carey, Frankie Thomas, James _ M‘Callion, Leon Ames, Juanita Quigley, and Dorothy Arnold.
