ACCIDENTS AND DEATHS
/ SUCCUMBED TO INJURY. Seriously injured when she was pinned beneath a tram car in Newmarket (Auckland) on November 2, Miss Ev* Crothall, a dressmaker, aged 58 years, of Epsom, died in the Auckland Hospital yesterday. She fell while alighting from a tram at a safety zone. The tram had to be jacked up before she was released and taken to hospital. DRIVER FATALLY INJURED. Joseph Brockway Trudgeon, assistant secretary of the Canterbury Employers’Association, was killed in a motoy accident at Hurunui yesterday. He wa« driving north along the Hanmer Springs road in a light open car with a passenger, Mr B. J. Lancaster, when the car struck the wooden railing of * culvert. The car was thrown round n» the opposite direction and overturned* Mr Lancaster was thrown clear and wa« uninjured, but Mr Trudgeon wa* pinned underneath and was dead when the car was lifted. He was 27 years ot age.
