Mr Eden recalled that five times the last 80 years Germany had started: a war of aggression with only the* slightest pretext: “Against peaceful! The original form 'of the telegram was, kepii sefcret till 1892. _ The seizure of Schleswig-Holstein is largely forgotten, but it aroused among observers very much the same emotions, as did tb« violation of Danzig. The late Dr Jnniea Sully mentions in the story of his life the remark of the aged Orientalist, Professor Ewald, to an English, student: “Young man. is this a t : me to be studying dead languages when 40 million Germans are governed b/ a devil?”—‘ Observer.’-
