MEDICAL INSTRUCTION

TERRITORIALS FOR BURNHAM MEDICAL AND INFANTRY COURSES A considerable amount of new ground will be covered by a large party of Territorials from the Otago University Medical Company, which will leave for the Southern District Military School, Burnham, to-morrow morning. This will be the most ambitious medical course of instruction undertaken in the Southern District up to the present, and will be attended by 150 members of the company, which is recruited from the medical and dental students of the University of Otago. At Burnham the party will be joined by 80 other ranks of the 3rd Field Ambulance, N.Z.M.O. (Christchurch). Almost 100 men from the Otago Regiment will also travel by the same train. They will undergo a course of infantry and musketry instruction. Sixty members; of C Company, which is comprised of students at the Training College and University, are included in the draft from the - Otago Regiment. Major S. M. Satterthwaite, N.Z.S.C., is officer commanding the school, and Captain A. P. M'Cormack, N.Z.S.G., will be adjutant to the course. Sergeant A. Staff, N.Z.P.S. (Dunedin) will accompany the southern party. The Christchurch party will be under the command of Staff Sergeant-major (W. 0.1.) T. F. S. Rudd, N.Z.P.S. All ranks will parade in uniform at the north end of the Dunedin Railway Station at 11.15 a.m. on Saturday next and report to Staff-sergeant J. R. J. Kennedy, N.Z.P.S. Undress uniform will be worn for travelling. This comprises hat, jacket, waist belt, slacks, and black hoots. N.C.O.s will take with them the necessary manuals for the course, also note hooks and pencils. Corporals and those under that rank will be required to take knife, fork, spoon, two plates, mug, and tea towel. A football match will be played against the Territorial Force Special Reserve at Burnham, and all footballers are asked to take the necessary equipment with them.
