FEW BUYERS

CAUTION DOMINATES MOVEMENTS NO PURCHASERS FOR LOANS OR BANKS Buying support fell away sharply on the Dunedin Exchange this morning, the slackest inquiry for a long time being experienced. Dominion issues shared in the setback with leading Australian stocks. Price movements were not appreciable, and business declined to a sole transaction effected late yesterday. Government loans and banks were neglected by purchasers, while a poor inquiry came forward for other early sections with practically no in levels. Only two Dominion industrials were sought—New Zealand Paper Mills and Milburn Limes—and buyers quoted more cautious limits for each. Transtasman industrials were slack, with a marked preponderance of holders. Sydney Woolworths declined to between £1 4s 3d-£l ss, while Coles opened wide at £3 15s 6d-£3 18s 6d. B.H.P.s and A.C.l.s’ two issues closed unchanged. Metals were distinctly easier, although the absence of buyers affected valuations. Zinc ords. fell back to an offer of £2 14s, with the prefs. available at 3s higher. Lyells and Souths were quiet, while Morgans found a market around 9s 6d. ' SALES REPORTED. —Late Yesterday.— 3J per cent. Bonds, 1953-57, £9O 10s. per cent. Stock, 1953-57, £9O 10s. Southland Frozen Meat (ord.), £1 7s 9d. . Brown, Ewing (ord.), £1 Is. Mount Morgan, 9s 6d. —This Morning.— Mount Morgan, 9s 6d (late yesterday).
