WRIGHT V. M'CREADY .Many of the-best wrestlers -in'America'have passed through the hands of Karl Johnson, former Olympic champion, who is the coach in the famous Los Angeles Athletic Club, and one who has done so is Rube Wright, who will be Earl M’Cready’s opponent in the heavy-weight' bout which is to be contested'at the Town Hall on Monday night. Wright went to the Los Angeles Club after he had. left the Missouri State University, at which he gained! his “ blue ” at football, wrestling, basketball, and other sports. In 1933 he won the American amateur heavy-weight championship, one of the hardest wrestling titles to secure, and was then offered a contract to turn professional, having bis first bout against George Moloney, whom he defeated in 11 minutes. After having some other matches on the Pacific Coast he was asked to go over to the Eastern States, and spent most of the next two years in New York and Boston. In 1936 he made his first trip overseas, visiting Ireland, England, and France during a tour which lasted about six mouths. In Paris he heat a former world champion in Henri de Glnne and also Dan Koloff. Back in the States, he toured the west and north-west, and then last year he crossed the Atlantic again, this time visiting nearly all the European countries. Wright is big and tough, being well over 6ft in height and weighing nearly 18st.
