RESTRICTIONS ON BUSINESS
TIME FOR ORGANISED RESISTANCE [Per United I’eess Association.] HAMILTON, August 23. “ It appears as if we cannot go on for long under the present administration if the Government’s policy is going to be pursued for any length of time. I do not think they can see ahead for more than a week, but no business can survive without efficient planning,” said the Mayor of Hamilton (Mr H. D. Caro) at the annual meeting of the Chamber of Commerce when making a strong appeal, for an organisation of business interests in New Zealand to combat the restrictions on business.
11 If the Labour Party were asked to put up with trying conditions similar to those which the business community has to to-day, would it sit down and just take it?” asked Mr Caro. “ I do not think so. Yet business people talk a great deal but they are taking no definite and organised action. It is time they pulled together and took steps to lonn a strong body in each town in the Dominion to catch the cars of the Government and tell the masses something of the crippling conditions.”
