[From Oor Oam arc Correspondent.] CENTENNIAL COMMITTEE. At a meeting of the North Otago Centennial Committee, March 1 was decided on as the date for the local celebration of the Centennial. Dr Bevan Brown reported that the National Centennial Art Committee would hold aa art exhibition at Oaraaru in September, 1940. The Otago Council advised that the Five Forks Memorial and historical survey prpposals had been approved and forwarded to Wellington. A committee, comprising Messrs J. Gerrie, A. Black, and Mrs W. R. The matter of establishing a volunteer Fire Brigade at Kurow was discussed at a meeting of the Kurow Vigilance Committee, and it was decided to call a public meeting in the near future. MAGISTRATE’S COURT. Mr H. W. Bundle, S.M., presided at the sitting of the Oamaru Magistrate’s Court yesterday. David Stanley Cecil Watson, a rural mail contractor, was fined £ls and waft prohibited from driving for 12 month* for intoxication while in charge of ft motor van. Velma Reid, for failing to keep aft nearly as practicable to the left in Stour street, was fined £1 5s and costa (10s). . - For riding a bicycle carelessly, William Lundberg was fined 3s and costs (10s).
