MONTHLY SOCIAL EVENING

THE AUSTRALIAN SOCIETY OF OTAGO On Saturday evening last the Australian Society held their monthly social. Mr and Mrs A. A. Paape received the guests in the lounge, which looked very inviting, with large bowls of spring flowers. Mr A. Glue made an efficient M.C. Bright interludes between the dances were vocal numbers given by Miss Daphne Morrison and Mr George Bridge, with Mrs Kerr and Mrs W. Chandler as accompanists. A Monte Carlo was won by Miss C. M‘Ka v and Mr Maxwell, while several members enjoyed cards in the lounge, the winner being Mrs D. Wark. During supper Mr A. A. Paape extended a welcome to several visitors, including Miss Dunstan, from Bondi N.S.W.. and Miss Griffiths, of Melbourne, and expressed his pleasure at seeing such a largo gathering. Mr M‘Neill ably conducted a short community sing, and dancing continued till midnight, when another happy evening was brought to a close with the singing of ‘ Auld Lang Syne.’ Mrs E. Clayton supplied the music for dancing.
