Golden Dawn. Golden Dawn Gold Mines Ltd. reports as follows for the fortnight ended August 12: A start was made to sink the winze on No. 5 reef below No. 3 level on August 2, and so far a total of 7ft has been sunk, the depth now being 25ft. the reef is a solid body of quartz, wider than the winze, and the assays are improving in value in depth, running at lowest point from 12s to £3’ 12s 2d a ton and looking well underfoot.
Mataki. The Mataki return for the week ended August 18 was 30oz for 133 hours’ work from 11,400 yards.
Fijian Production. Production of the Loloma and Emperor companies operating on the Tavua field, Fiji, for the four weeks ended August 9, was as follows Loloma; Treated 2,459 tons for 3,236 fine ounces of gold and 572 fine ounces of silver; residue, I.2Bdwt. Emperor: Treated 14,445 tons for 4,086 fine ounces of gold: residue, o.63dwt. Concentrates stacked pending further treatment, 18 tons, estimated to contain 117 oz fine gold.
