MONTHLY MEETING The monthly meeting of the Dunedin •branch of the Plunket Society was held on Friday last, when there were present Airs Joseph Al’George (in the chair). Mesdames Begg, Sandford Cox, Cunningham, Reid, Cleghorn, Pratt, Cairnev. Bruce, Caiman, Barnett. Taverner. Gillon (Taieri). and Williams, and .Miss Johnstone. The July report of the matron of the Truby King-Harris Hospital was received. During the month 21 mothers and 37 babies had been admitted, while 18 mothers and 30 babies had been discharged, the total of 58 admissions and 48 discharges being the biggest month on record. The change-over from the old building into tho new Truby KingHarris Hospital commenced on July 3. Tho charge nurse of the Central Plunket Rooms stated that district statistics for the month were:—Babies on the list 1,724; older children on the list 658; visits paid to homes. 1,202; visits paid to offices, 2,385 (mothers 1,190, babies 1,068, older children 127) ; new cases for the month, babies only, 74 ; babies breast fed (including partly). new cases, 64. Visits paid to suburban rooms;—Roslyn 11, North-cast Valley 6, Alornington 11, Anderson’s Bay 9, Cayersham Kindergarten 7, South Dunedin 2. Out-stations visited were : —Alosgiel. Abbotsford, Green Island, Ravensbourne. Alaia, Burkes, St, Leonards, Port Chalmers, Aliddlemarch, Concord. Alacandrqw Bay, Waikouniti, Dunback, Hampden, Mocraki-Kartigi, Shag Point, Seacliff, Puketeraki, Karitane, Waitati, Warrington, Omirai, and Outram. The Palmerston Hospital had been visited weekly. On July 17 Miss Carter conducted an older children’s day at the Alornington. Clinic, which was well attended, the mothers being most appreciative of the demonstration of clothinc and tho best methods of preparing food. Gifts are gratefully acknowledged from the Britannia Pram Company, St. Andrew street, and from Air E., Symon, Alornington. Owing to the inclemency of the weather, the number of visits was considerably smaller than usual. For almost an entire week the nurses were unable to visit their usual cases, and no visits were paid to the various clinics by the mothers. The nurses were kept busy supplying information Iby telephone for the modification of dried and condensed milks owing to the interruption of supplies of fresh milk. A donation of £lls 3s 2d from the Charity Ball Committee was received with thanks. Preliminary arrangements were made for the holding of Daffodil Day early in October, Airs Williams being elected organiser.
