GROUP TRAVEL SCHEME
MOVEMENT STRONGLY SPONSORED I I’ejr United Pubsb Association.) TIMARU, July IS. A group travel movement, which originated in Timaru with the idea of encouraging people to see the beauties of their own country, lias made considerable progress in recent months. Large numbers of tours to various parts of the South Island have been conducted, and a Group Travel Association has now been formed. It is hoped that the scheme will be further extended by the co-operation of the district councils of physical welfare in the South Island, the Employers’ Association, the Manufacturers Association, the Chambers of Commerce, and tourist and travel interests. Representatives of these organisations have been invited to meet the Minister of Internal Affairs (Mr Parry), who sees in the scheme one of the best means of achieving the objectives of the Physical Welfare Recreation Act. The meeting will be held at Christchurch on August 3, when the scheme will he officially inaugurated.
