OPOHO BOWLING CLUB
ANNUAL MEETING The annual meeting of the Opoho Bowling Club was held on Tuesday evening, when Mr R. A. Johnston presided over a good attendance of members. The annual report and balance sheet showed the finances of the club to he in a very healthy condition, and that further improvements had been made to the club’s property during the past year. The green is in excellent order, and one of the best of its kind iu Dunedin. The club entered three sections in last year’s Saturday competitions and performed very creditably, finishing in fifteenth place out of a total entry of 24. Trophies were presented to last year’s winners of club ties as follows: —Championship singles, Mr J. M‘Millan; handicap singles, Mr W. Colvin; championshippairs, Messrs A. Logan and W. Hewitson; Novices’ Cup (presented by Mrs W. Drydcn), Mr G. Hope. Membership of the club showed an increase of seven playing members over the previous season. It was decided not to support remits from Roslyn and Logan Park Clubs, and that from the Dunedin Centre, re playing of four-rink games on Monday nights. The remit from Leith Club' that not less than 12 Saturday matches be played was supported. The other remits were, left to the discretion of the delegates to the centre. The following officers were elected for the coming year;—President, Mr R. A. Johnston; vice-presidents, Messrs A. Logan and A. Summerfield: secretary, Mr J. Seaton; treasurer; My J. A. Evans; green superintendent. Mr- W. Petrie; Green Committee—Messrs R. A. Johnston, A. Logan, and W. Petrie; selectors —Messrs A. Summerfield. A, Logan, H. Taylor; selectors (Wednesday matches), Messrs G. Thomson and F. Darling; auditor, Mr A. E. Esquilant; delegates to centre. Messrs R. A. Johnston and J. A. Evans (executivelj committqe—Messrs C. Caskie. N. Hendra, W. Petrie, J. Miller, J. A. Thomson, A. Dodds. Subscription for coming season was fixed at the same as last year, £2 17s 6d. The President thanked members for his re-election and for their assistance during the past year. He made special reference to the loss the club had sustained through the departure from Dunedin of Mr C. Kettle, who had been a most useful member of the club. Members expressed their best wishes for the future success of Mr and Mrs Kettle. It was decided to play the same club ties this season as last, and to enter for the Adess Shield and four-rink competitions. It was left to the committee to decide later how many rinks would be entered for the Saturday matches.
