MEDIUM BULLOCKS 10/- DEARER SHEEP OPEN ABOUT PARITY VEALERS APPRECIATE BY 10/Little variation in prices was shown over all yarclings at the Burnside stock sales to-day, prime bullocks maintaining late rates to u shade firmer, while medium descriptions appreciated by 10s to 15s a head. Cows 1 and heifers showing quality were firm, while other sorts barely managed to bring late values. Sheep of good butchers’ quality wore about the same prices as last week, the only change being for medium grades, which showed a firming tendency at the outset. Vealers rose by 10s a head, while store cattle did not vary. Fat pig prices were also unchanged. Rather more prime heavy bullocks than usuaji were included in' the yarding of 263 head of fat cattle. Cows and heifers comprised more than half the entry. Prime butchers’ bullocks showed a slight firming tendency, while mediums were 10s to 15s dearer. Good consignments of prime cows and heifers were few, but there was little change in values. Aged and light and unfinished cows and heifers were slow of sale, and barely made late rates. The appearance of much of the yarding suffered through the adverse ivcather conditions. There was an easing tendency towards the end of the sale. Mr J. P. Herlihy topped the market to-day with £22 2s 6d for a fine bullock.

A preponderance of ewes over wethers was noticeable in a bigger yarding of fat sheep than last week, Tint good consignments of either were few. Medium and light descriptions comprised the bulk of the entry. Wethers, at the opening of the sale, were selling at late rates, but good ewes brought scarcely as favourable values. Medium to light sorts were a shade better at this stage of the sale, but it had been a patchy one. Vealers had a medium entry of approximately 60 head, including some of outstanding quality. Prices were 10s better than last week. The best description brought to £5 ss; mediums, from £3 10s to £4 ss; and light sorts, from £2 to £3.
Store cattle had a very small entry of two pen's of two-and-a-half-year-old steers, and about a dozen other , sorts. Prices did not vary from last week. The steers realised £7 14s and £6 16s.
A small entry of about 20 head of boner cows was sold at late rates. Late parity was given for a medium yarding of 143 head of fat pigs. Porkers brought from £2 17s to £3 13s a head, or about 7d lb, while baconers realised from £3 15s to £4 17s, or about BJd lb. There were 61 stores yarded.
