UNITED STATES ARMY
“ WILL NOT STAND FOR AGGRESSION " PRESIDENT ADDRESSES MILITARY GRADUATES Press Association —By Telegraph—Copyright NEW YORK. June 13. President Roosevelt, addressing a graduates’ class at West Point Military Academy, said that the United States army would not stand for aggression. During recent months international political considerations had required still greater emphasis upon the realisation of American defences because of the dramatic illustrations of the fate of undefended nations. “ We seek peace,” he added, “ by honourable and pacific methods, but that desire for peace must never be mistaken for weakness. Recently wo had the pleasure of a visit from King George as a courteous recognition of the cordiality and goodwill which prevails between the two great nations. Its significance lay in the fact that friendship could exist between the two countries since both were without fear. To achieve that result strength is needed; strength which comes not from arms alone, but from restraint, understanding, and co-operation, which in turn are the product of trained, disciplined minds.”
