NORTH OTAGO NOTES

[From Olu Oauauu Correspondent.] DENTAL CLINIC. Mr J. T. Calder presided at the annual meeting of the Oamaru Dental Clinic Committee. The annual report stated that 20 schools were attached to the clinic. During the year there were 3,417 attendances of children at the clinic, compared with 2,213 last year. Work done comprised: Fillings 6,629 (5,452), extractions 748 (823), miscellaneous 841 (1,145); total operations 8,218 (7,420). A concession of 20 per cent, on railway and bus fares had been granted by the department to children travelling to the clinic and parents accompanying them. The credit balance increased from £l3l to £lB6.

For. installirig electrical appliances' without being registered wiremen Walter Eddington Restall was ordered to pav court costs (10s) and solicitor s fee (£2 2s), and Peter J. Begbie was ordered to pav costs (10s) and solicitor's fee (£2 2s). For employing other than a registered wireman to install a washing machine, C. Begg and Co. Ltd. were fined 20s. costs 10s, and solicitor’s fee (£3 3s). , Donald Herron was fined 10s and 10s costs for driving a motor lorry without a warrant of fitness: Leonard Kinraid Godsall was ordered to pay costs (10s) for driving with number plate obscured; Lionel Harry James was fined 10s and 10s costs for exceeding 30 miles an hour in a speed-limit area and John Raki Raki waA fined 8s and 12s costs for driving a car without a warrant of fitness. - ■ ■ PRESBYTERY. At the monthly meeting of the Oamaru Presbytery yesterday the Rev. Jd. H. Barton was reappointed clerk. Arrangements were made for the induction of the Rev. Dr D. T. Patterron, the new minister of St. Paul s Church. A grant of £SO for repairs to St. Paul s manse was approved. TOWNSWOMEN’S GUILD. There was an excellent attendance at a meeting of the Oamaru Townswomen’s Guild. Mrs L. R. Jordan, presiding, reported on the successful launching of the junior division. Large numbers bad joined the home mu sing and first aid classes of the St. John Ambulance Association, and classes in motor mechanics, under Mr G. i. Gillies, had been started; Several women volunteered as donors for blood transfusions. Mrs R. Milligan gave a talk on conditions in London during the September crisis, and demonstrated the use of gas masks. TABLE TENNIS. Due to a shortage of milk as the result of the recent dry weather, supplies to Oamaru schools have had to be rationed.
