THE WAIKATO STEEPLECHASE

WON BY OUTSIDER BLACK MARLIN BREAKS HIS NECXVALPEEH DROPS DEAD PRINCIPAL HANDICAP TO MAORI SONG The Waikato Racing Club’s meeting was concluded in fine weather. In the big steeplechase Black Marlin fell and broke his neck and Valpeeh dropped dead. In the Hamilton Hurdles Master Musk cut a tendon and was destroyed. A record dividend for a Waikato meeting was paid in the last race. The totalisator handled £32,678 10s for the day, compared with £29,544 10s last year.
