PIONEER WOMEN'S MEMORIAL

The association formed for the purpose of erecting a memorial in honour of the pioneer women of Otago has had distributed through the post a descriptive circular to every home in Dunedin and suburbs, and throughout the country districts comprised in the postal area of Dunedin. The sub-committee appointed to organise the various districts for the collecting of coupons attached to the circular, has been engaged recently in getting together its army of collectors. It reports:— A few of the collectors haye started already on their rounds, and are getting a sympathetic reception, very few showing indifference, and those mostly newcomers to the city. The object is a worthy one, and should commend itself

to all the descendants of those pioneer women who braved and endured so much in their lives, which were lived in the midst of hardships incidental to - primitive conditions. The city has been engaged recently in honouring Mother’s Day, and it i« pleasing to see that some or the donations received are accompanied by tho inscription “ In honour or my mother. ” What better way could be found to pay tribute to all mothers, than to give a contribution to this fund?
