Mayer was the highestsalaried American in 1937. He earned 1,296,323d01. The highest paid film stars were; Greta Garbo, 472,602d01; Marlene Dietrich, 370,000dol; Joan Crawford, 301,538d01, and Fredric March, 334,687d01. Outside tho film industry the highest salaries were earned by leaders of the automobile industry; General Motors paid its president, Mr William Knudsen, 247,210db1.
