Rain overnight and yesterday made the going heavy for the second day of the Auckland Racing Club’s midsummer meeting. The attendance was 6,000, and the totalisator handled £23,056 against £33,809 10a on the second day last year, a decrease of £10,753 10s. The total for the two days was £63,735 against £82,334, a decrease of £18,599. The Auckland Cup winner Cheval de Voice beat Gay Rose by a neck in the principal event of the day.
