BANKRUPTCY PROSECUTION
«, • MAN COMMITTED FOR TRIAL [Per United Press Association.] WANGANUI, January 30. Pleading not guilty to two charges under the Bankruptcy Act, Robert Wakefield Harris, a farmer and land agent, of Marton, was committed to the Supreme Court for trial when he appeared before Mr H. J. Salmon in the Magistrate’s Court this afternoon. The accused was allowed bail of £IOO in his own recognisance, with a surety of a similar amount. The 'charges against the accused were failing to keep proper books and incurring debts at a time when he had no reasonable or probable expectation of being able to pay.
The accused, who was adjudged a bankrupt on August 3 last, when his statement of bis affairs showed a deficiency of £7.152, was publicly examined in October.
Bryan Silk, deputy official assignee at Wanganui, said in evidence to-day that the accused’s books had been correctly kept until March 31, 1932.
