NORTH ISLAND CHAMPIONSHIPS [Per United Press Association.) MASTERTON, January 25. The North Island championships were concluded to-day, _the final event, the mixed championship doubles, being won by P. Hawkeswortli and Mrs Hawkesworth (Mastcvton), who beat R. Sharp and Miss M. Glenny (Hastings), 6-4, 8-6. AUSTRALIAN SINGLES TITLE MELBOURNE, January 25. In the Australian championships today the quarter-finals of the men’s singles resulted: — Quist defeated L. Broclic, G-3, 6-2, 6 Bromwich defeated D. Turnbull, 7-5, 6-1, 0-0. Crawford defeated Gilchrist, 4-0, 6-4, 2-6, 6-3, 6-4. ' M'Grath beat Hopmau, 6-2, 4-6, 6-4, 6-3.
