REPORTS OF COMMITTEES The following are extracts from tho various committees’ reports, which will be presented at the monthly meeting 10-niglit of the Hospital Board;— BENEVOLENT COMMITTEE. The Benevolent Committee reports having dealt with 59 casual cases for relief amounting to £137 4s 4d. During the past month 13 persons bad been admitted to, 10 discharged, and five deaths bad occurred at the infirmary ward at Talboys Home. At present 117 inmates remain in the institution. X-RAY DEPARTMENT. The committee' reports that Ministerial approval has now been received of the purchase of a K X-500 transformer Watson Victor X-ray diagnostic equipment, and authority given for the order to be placed after the radio diagnostician has conferred with the engineer of Watson, Victor Ltd. The plans of the proposed additions to the X-ray block to provide additional accommodation for X-ray and deep therapy work have been forwarded to Mr Strong for his approval or otherwise, and Messrs Watson, Victor Ltd. have been advised. The board will await conference with Mr Burt, chief engineer for Watson, Victor Ltd., upon his return to New Zealand. The architects have been instructed, in completing the plans, to provide for two additional stories to this building, providing approximately 100 beds. A I’PO INTMENTS R FCOMMENDED. The committee further recommends that, in view of the report received from Miss Moore, of the nursing division, Department of Health, and tho suggestion of the matron, two additional senior sisters be appointed in a supervising capacity to the nursing staff, Dunedin Hospital. A further recommendation by the committee is that Dr Raymond Kirk he appointed physician to the massage department.
