—Vice-Regal,— The Governor-General and Lady Galway paid a visit to Te Aroba yesterday afternoon. They were met, on arrival by the mayor and chairman of the county council at a garden party m the Tourist Domain, in the presence of a large assemblage. The vice-Ilegal party was welcomed by the Mayor, who presented His Excellency with an illuminated address. In his reply, Lord Galway referred to the Te Aroha district as one of the most prosperous in the Dominion. In the evening their Excellencies were the guests of tha Caledonian Society at a Burns night ingleside, and left for Paeroa this morning.—Press Association. —Ministerial.— A Blenheim Association message states that the Minister of Lands, Mr, Langstone, arrived at Picton last evening on his first official visit to Marlborough, and was accorded a civic reception. This morning he left for the Sounds, where he will receive several deputations, and will arrive at Blenheim this evening, when he will be accorded a public welcome. To-morrow he will receive deputations, and on Saturday will leave for Kaikoura and Hanmer. Mr J. Graham Miller and Mr Robert Strang Miller, sons of the Rev* Thomas Miller, have received advica that they have passed the final examinations for the degree of LL.B. The committee of the Hospital Board, will recommend at its meeting to-night; the approval of the appointments tot the honorary visiting staff of JDr E. D’Ath (honorary pathologist), Dr CL E. Hercus (honorary bacteriologist), and Dr Bevan Douds (honorary dental surgeon). A motion of sympathy with the relatives of the late Mr R. S. Black wa» carried by a meeting in the lloslyn Presbyterian Church hall last • evening of residents interested in the campaign against the substitution of buses for cable cars on the hill routes. . Stewart) spoka of the fine qualities of Mr Black, and moved a resolution paying tribute t© his great services as a citizen, councillor, and mayor of Dunedin, nis own personal character, and his wholehearted interest in anything concerned with the welfare of the community, Mr G. W. Gibson, for many years vice-president of the Dunedin branch of the Sudan United Mission, who is leaving for Christchurch, was farewelled at the Vedic last evening by a large attendance of members.
