What is believed to be record prizemoney has been allotted by the committee appointed by the Marlborough Rowing Association to conduct the New Zealand championship regatta on Picton Harbour on February 11. The sum of £252 will be divided amoM the 11 events, the allotments for the championship races being:— Fours and Eights.—£4o, £lO, £o. Single and Double Sculls, and Pairs. —£ls and £5. Marlborough Plate, Fours.—£lß and £5.

SWIMMING

ATTEMPT ON 220 YARDS RECORD Permission has been granted W. Dyson- of the Kiwi Swimming Club, to make a special attempt on the 220yds New Zealand breast stroke record of 3min 1 2-ssec, held by L. Smith. The attempt will take place on Tuesday evening. Last evening Dyson went within Isec of the record when he won the Otago breast stroke championship.
