RECKLESS MOTORISTS.
TO THE EniTOK. Sir,—l have read the letters of “ Taxi Driver ” and Mr 11. A. Donnelly, and think they ought to shake hands on the subject. Both of the writers speak the truth. There is too much of the claiming of their pound of flesh by both motor drivers and jay walkers. I find the very worst jay walkers are High School boys and girls; in fact, if anyone will take note he will see some of the girls crawling across the lines sometimes when they have not got the lawful right of way. I have not any wish to clear the motorist from blame, but would like to seo the traffic officers out South Dunedin way. The other night there was nearly a smash at the corner of Surrey street and Bay View road, caused by the driver of a car speeding. More than one-half of the drivers, both of trucks and motor cars, should learn how to take a left-hand turn. Talk about safety campaign week! The driving as far as speeding and cutting corners are concerned is worse now than ever it was.—l am, etc., Foebuhv Cobxek. December 1.
