• [Fhom Oue Oamaeu Correspondent.] ' LACK OF' - SUPPORT; When the matter of holding the next annual shoW" > wns'-’Misbussed at the annual meeting of the North Otago Kennel Club, some members questioned whether the club could continue with the lack of support of the public. The president (Dr A. Smith Morton) sihd the club had not received the support it deserved. It was decided to'hold the annual show, as usual. Th§ following officers were elected: — Patron, Mr D. H. Oamaru has experienced the wettest year on record, and the total rainfall lor 'the 11 months to November 130 is 20.78 in, compared with 13.68 for the same period last year, and the annual average for nine years of 20. Oamaru has lost a good citizen by the death of Miss Constance Lovell Grenfell, the only daughter of Mr G. L. Grenfell. For many years. Miss Grenfell was secretary of the North Otago Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. She* was also a prominent member of tho. Women’s Christian Temperance Union and of the Theospplncal Society, CUSTOMS RETURNS. The Oamaru Customs returns for last month were as follows, the figures for the same month last year being in parentheses.; Customs, £2,480 ("£2.261); sales tax. £243 (£331); petrol tax. £1,975 (£1,980); .marine revenue, £lB (£18); miscellaneous, £9l;-total, £4,810 (£4,598). GENERAL. The port statistics, for Oamaru last month are as follows Coastal cargo, outwards 1.254 tons (Hour 60D, pollard and bran 210, lime -45, eggs 42); coastal cargo, inwards, 730 tons (coal 221, sugar 86). Last month the Oamaru St. John Ambulance travelled 28G miles and '•Tected 14 removals. It bad to attend to no accidents during.the month. When proceeding north on the main road near Deborah on Wednesday a small car struck a truck, which emerged from the White Rocks road, and the truck capsized. Fortunately no one was injured. The truck was badly damaged, but the car, though dented, was able to proceed. PERSONAL. Mr. J. Stewart. wdl leave Oamaru next week, to join the. staff of the Central Otago Power Board. Mr Stewart is president of the .North Otago llugby (Referees’ Association, and his departure will be regretted by Oamaru footballers.
