FLAGSHIP FOR ENGLAND
DEPARTURE OF THE ACHILLES [Per United Press Association.] AUCKLAND. November 29. Pinal preparations tor the departure of H.M.S. Achilles on Friday morning for England are at present being made. The cruiser will leave’ the Devonport naval base at 10.30, and will not be seen again at Auckland until about May next. Her departure involves the transfer of the command of the -sea-going squadron from Commodore Glennie, who is taking the Achilles to England, to Captain Rivett-Caraac, who will assume the rank of commodore. When Commodore Glennie transfer* his command to Captain Rivett-Camao,-the cruiser Leander will automatically become the flagship of The squadron. An outstanding feature of the change will be that.it has to be madeiin the absence of Captain Rivett-Carnac and his ship, since the Leander is at present engaged on a special cruise in the Pacific. Because of this, none of the usual ceremony which- accompanies the tranfer of the commodore!# flag will be possible, and it is likely that signals exchanged by radio between the two ships will be the only tangible evidence ! of the T
