PRESENT VESSELS ADEQUATE FOR SERVICE NEW CRUISE SHIPS NOT CONTEMPLATED [Peu United Press Association.] AUCKLAND, November 25. “ That is merely rumour and has no foundation whatever in fact,’’ said Mr H. N. Thomas, passenger manager of the Matson Lino, when interviewed aboard tiio Mariposa to-day on published reports of the company’s intention to replace tho Mariposa and Monterey with new ami larger vessels. “ The present two ships are adequate for the business offering, and larger ones are not required. When they become necessary wo will build them.”
lie added that, while business had progressed continuously sinco tho company inaugurated tho service, absorption point was by no means reached. The passenger route had proved popular owing to favourable geographical position and climate, and there was no reason why the number of passengers earned should not continue to grow;-.'
