SAND BUILDING COMPETITION.
TO THE EDITOH.
Sir, —Sand-building competitions ia the Homeland passed off with complete success. The events were favoured with beautiful weather, and the number of children competing was very large. The enthusiasm displayed by old and, young was pleasant to see; all concerned must have agreeable memories of the event. The whole of the beaches were alive with little architects and builders making castles, forts, camps, churches, piers, lighthouses, and what-not of sand. The St. Clair residents are urged to take this matter up for their consideration and! approval. During the summer months the influx of visitors would be doubled and the suburb benefited by them. The sand building might teach some very good lessons—the lessons of patience and perseverance. The arrangements could bo in the hands of a committee who would appoint three judges to examine the various exhibits submitted. It is suggested that'the prizes consist of a gold bangle for the best design submitted by a girl, pen-knives, needle-cases, boxes of chocolates, a silver brooch, cricket bat, etc. Trusting the subject will bo taken up with enthusiasm. —I am, etc., Arestos, November 24.
