resolution on jew persecution The quarterly meeting of the council was held last evening at First Church* A committee consisting of Revs. W. A. Stevely, W. A. Hamblett, J ; Ewea Simpson, Messrs J. Gray, C. Roberts, and C. A. Elsey, was appointed to go into the matter of industrial missions. to endeavour to organise religious meetings amongst employees at places of business. _ Regarding tbe distress of the Jews in Europe at the present time, the council passed the following resolution: The Dunedin Council of Christian Congregations joins with other Christian bodies in expressing its abhorrence at the inhuman persecutions to which the Jewa in Germany have been subjected in recent days. On religious and humanitarian grounds we declare such persecutions to be utterly wrong, and wo urge all Christian people to join in praying, for those now suffering, that relief and comfort may speedily ho granted to them; and also for those guilty of this sin. that they may bo led to repent of it and make what restitution is possible. Also %ve urge tho Government to consider what New Zealand can do to relieve the position by receiving refugees into the country.”
