Here Detective-sergeant Taylor, who was stationed outside the gate, called upon him to halt, and Detective Gibson, following closely behind the fugitive, captured and arrested him. He was then conveyed to the Central Police Station in one of the cars. The whole of the proceedings, which lasted only a few minutes, were carried out in a most efficient manner. These premises had been broken into on at least two occasions previously, when, though the booty obtained by the intruders was not very extensive, damage and annoyance had been caused.
