VALUES CLOSE UNCHANGED MORGANS HESITANT PENDING ELECTION RESULT The investment market closed quietly this morning with little animation in the call room. Values finished generally steady, transtasman stocks remaining almost unchanged, while New Zealand scrip was lethargic. ' Government loans were quieter, and although two transactions m 4 per cents, were reported, support withered to leave only two buyers on. Bank of New Zealands attracted slightly better support, but sellers of both this scrip and Nationals offered at recent easy rates. South British Insurances came in for further attention at £2 2s 3d, but meat preservings tended to ease, vendors of New Zealand Refrigeratings lowering limits. Industrial issues were quiet, the only stock to reach the sales list being Wilson’s Cements, business in which was recorded at 16s 6(1. Australian industrial lenders remained slack, a reflection of the transtasman tone. 1.C.1.’s preference shares found a close market between £1 2s 7d-Bd, but otherwise values were unchanged. ... Mining shares remained inactive. Morgans were hesitant pending the result of the election to the directorate, but Barriers and Lyells finished steady. SALES REPORTED. —This Morning.— 4 per cent.
