MEMORIAL HALL PLANNED [Per United Press Association.) AUCKLAND, October 27. As a contribution to the city’s centennial programme, Auckland Jewry arc making arrangements for the erection of a communal hall on the most westerly section of the land in Cemetery Reserve in Karauganape road. The hall is intended to serve as a permanent memorial to those Jewish pioneers who wore among the early settlers of New Zealand 100 and more years ago. The site for the hall has never been used as a burial ground. It fronts Karangahape road, and is between the women’s rest room and the first of the shops. At present there are a number of trees growing there. It is proposed to spend about £3,500 upon the hall, and already £3,000 is in the hands of the committee which has been placed in charge of the scheme. Preliminary plans have been drawn up by the architect, Mr A. N. Goldwater, and construction will bo commenced about March of next year.
