NATIONAL WORKERS’ MOVEMENT The following resolutions were carried at a general meeting of the Dunedin branch of the National Unemploved Workers’ Movement on Tuesday night last, Mr M. Silverstone (president) being in the chair: — “That as most of our members are now in full-time work and now m other unions, the time has arrived for the branch to withdraw our affiliation from the New Zealand Federation ot Labour in Wellington.” “That the executive hold its meetings as usual every month, and that the date for calling the next general meeting be left meantime in the hands of the executive.” . Correspondence was received irom the Federation of Labour, Wellington; secretary of the Lawrence branch of the N.U.W.M.; Spanish Aid Medical Committee; general secretary of the N D W.M., Wellington; Palmerston Public Works job; and local organisaThe organising report showed that two new. members had joined, two had rejoined, three had been granted oldage pensions, four had been granted invalidity pensions, 66 members had been granted clearances, and almost 400 had been placed in full-time work during the past two months. The Secretary reporter! that he had attended the Labour Bureau for ballots and in regard to complaints. One complaint was tabled and left with the president for investigation. The financial statement for the past two months was submitted and adopted without discussion.
