PRAIRIE PROVINCES
MOVE FOR SECESSION RESPONSE DISAPPOINTS SPONSORS Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright OTTAWA, October 26. (Received October 27, at 12.50 p.ra.) The Saskatchewan fanners’ move for secession of the prairie provinces is disappointing its sponsors. Manitoba and Alberta are opposed to the proposal, while British Columbia is lethargic. The Premier of Ontario, Mr Hepburn, declares that the province is at breaking point regarding concession to the west. The country in general is paying the 30,000,000 dollars loss through the guaranteed wheat price to benefit western farmers. The east is paying the most. The secession movement is based chiefly on the alleged farm implement tariff discrimination and failure of the Government to peg wheat at a dollar instead of 80 cents.
