GREAT HELP TO TRADE
SHOE RESEARCH [Per United Press Association.] WELLINGTON, October 26. Manufacturers have expressed appreciation of the first year’s work of the Shoe Research Association. The association was formed 13 months ago in conjunction with the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research. Its objective was to help boot and shoe manufacturers to maintain and improve where possible the quality of footwear made in New Zealand. The Hon. D. G. Sullivan, as Minister in charge of the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, said to-day that the progress of the Shoe Research Association was discussed at a meeting of the executive committee on October 4, when a director, Mr Philip White, explained the association’s aims, it had been demonstrated that the boot and shoe industry as a whole had been improving the quality of its products for many years. The executive committee of the Shoe Research Association was definitely of the opinion that the association’s activities had been of great help to the trade.
