SOLDIERS’ REUNION. Our report of the R.S.A. reunion neglected to mention the presence of Mr J. A. Boy, M.P., at the function. The toast of “ Parliament," coupled with the name of Mr Boy, was proposed by Air 11. Robson. Mr Boy; in reply, said that the soldier had no friends like his own cobbers, and the spirit of comradeship still lived, and they wanted to keep it going, partipiir larly for the sake of the ‘‘ under (log.” To Lawrence men he said, “If there is anything 1 can do for you, it makes no difference to me what the political colour i.s, 1 am only too pleased to bo of assistance to some digger.” MOUNTED RIFLES. A three-day Mounted Rifle camp, at which 20 of the local troop took part, was held at Waimiimii, neat Gore. Over 60 men from Gore, Otaur tan, Wyndham, Miller’s Flat, and Lawrence were under canvas. The camp was under the command of Major 0. L. Ferens, 0.C., Otago Mounted Rifles, while others attending were Major C. Lees (Invercargill), Major F. J. Brook (Beaumont), Lieutenant Mowat (Clydevale), Captain W. J. Pollock (Gore), Lieutenant R. M'Kinlay (Lawrence), SergeantMajor J. Fitzgerald, N.Z.P.S. (Dunedin), and Sergeant C. Rudd, N.Z.P.S. (Dunedin). CRICKET. In the first round of the Finlay son Cup competition, played at Simpson Park. Balclutha beat Lawrence by four wickets. Batting first, Lawrence was dismissed for the meagre total of 52 runs, Balclutha responding with 83 runs. In an effort to pull the, game out of the fire Lawrence went for a. hit in the second innings, scoring 97 in 50 minutes, leaving an hour and a-quarter for Balclutha to score 67 for an outright win. Balclutha scored the necessary runs right on the citll of time. School v. Benhar, at School; Waiwera v. Clinton, at Wajwera; Owaka v. Balclutha, at Balclutha; Lawrence v. Milton, at Milton, are next Saturday’s fixtures. GOLF NOTES. The closing day. of the Lawrence Golf Club was held on Wednesday, when there was a good attendance of members. The following were the dinners of the competitions _ played:— Driving (Mrs Morris’s trophies): Men, C. Bulman; ladies, Miss Nichols. Putting; Men, J. M‘Ara; ladies, Mrs Martin.
