Investment Market To-day

BARE SALES LIST UNCERTAIN TREND EVIDENT GOOD SUPPORT FOR MOST ISSUES An uncertain trend marked operations at the first call-over of- the week this morning, and although support was maintained for most issues easier limits ruled. The first time for many weeks there was a bare sales list. Banks received scant attention, only four quotations being recorded. New Zealands continued on offer at £2 3s. but buyers remained off. Coal and oil shares were almost neglected, while interest in woollen scrip fell away. Commonwealth industrials were uncertain, but support was well maintained. Broken Hills were quoted on a buyers’ market, Sydney Wool worths lost fractional ground, but British Tobaccos were firm. New Zealand issues showed little change, rights _to the new issue being made by Dominion Breweries remaining steady between 4s-ss. An uncertain undertone marked operations in Australian mining scrip, more cautious limits prevailing. _ Barriers finished easier, but other issues generally held late rates.
