CHORAL SOCIETY
TO-MORROW NIGHT'S CONCERT The special musical festival in honouf of the Dunedin Choral Society opens to-morrow night with an interesting programme of oratorio in the Town Hall, and it is anticipated that a large audience will hear the featured works, which are Haydn’s ‘ Creation ’ and Mendelssohn’s ‘ Hymn of Praise.’ Both these oratorios will be making a reappearance after a long absence from the Dunedin platform, and recent rehearsals have indicated that a thoroughly satisfying performance will he given. Besides the excellent chorus. Dr V. E. Galway, the guest conductor for the evening, will have the society’s full symphony orchestra under his baton, and the vocal soloists for the evening are to be Madame Cara' Tait aftd Miss Dorothy Mackay (sopranos). Mr Alfred Walmslev (teiior), and Mr Ernest Short (bass). Subsequent concerts will be held on Tuesday next and the following Saturday. , These are to be a popular celebrity concert featuring the Madrigal Club and prominent soloists, and a concluding 'special concert of modern works, at. both of which 51 r Walmslev will conduct. Booking arrangements are advertised.
