CLARK BEATS GILDO [Per United Press Association.] AUCKLAND, August 1 A return professional light-weight contest between Young Gildo, ofilouolulu, and Snowy Clark, of Western Australia, was won by the latter on points at the end of 12 thrce-mmute rounds. The bout was not so spectacular as that which took place in Auckland four weeks earlier. Clark’s speed with a straight left, combined with splendid footwork and clever ducking of right and left swings, enabled him to pile up a big margin of points. Gildo s only hope oi'er the later rounds was to win by a knock-out, but Clark was too alert to Jeave the Filipino such an open--1”a preliminary professional contest was to have taken place between the two welter-weights, Don Johnson, or Auckland, and Bob Monighan, of Christchurch. The former, however, had contracted measles, and r "ca. Parsons, of Aukcland, substituted lor him, having his first professional contest. Parsons lacked the experience of the visitor. Parsons was completely worn out in the seventh round, and when he was knocked down tae itierce immediately intervened.
