JAPANESE COLONISATION PROPOSAL
AUSTRALIA AND NEW ZEALAND COMMENT FROM TOKIO Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright TOKIO, July 27. (Received July 28, at 10. 3 D a.m.) Mr Kawai stated: “ We doubt that the proposals for Japanese to colonise or develop New Zealand and Australia are favoured there, but we understand that many Australians are beginning to advocate a fairer chance for our trade at least, even if not' welcoming our people. So it seems that reaction is coming to the unjust criticisms of our strivings to secure national safety and progress, which is some consolation.”
