BARCELONA AGAIN BOMBED DEAFENING EXPLOSIONS SHAKE CITY Press Association —By t—Copyrigm BARCELONA, June 20. Deafening explosions shook the city early this morning. Insurgent bombers carried out two raids. The damage is not known. It has been revealed that during the raids on June 19 the steamer Wisconsin was hit on the bridge and port deck, the interior being wrecked. It will bo necessary to tow her from the port. There were no casualties. ATTACKS OK FOREIGN SHIPS REBEL MINISTER’S THREAT. BURGOS, June 20. A threat of further bombing of foreign ships in loyalist ports was made by the Minister of the Interior. “ Pirate ships carrying contraband are extending their radius of action to Africa and transporting contraband to Alicante and Cartagena. Our sea and air forces will destroy them wherever they are found.”
OFFENSIVE AGAINST VALENCIA IN FULL SWING. SARAGOSSA, June 19. The rebel offensive against Valencia is in full swing, the principal arena being the Villareal sector. The Galician Amy Corps claims that 12,000 loyalist prisoners have been taken during the past week. ITALIAN REQUEST REJECTED LONDON, June 20. The ‘ Daily Telegraph ’ says the British Cabinet rejected the Italian request for ratification of the Anglo-Italian pact without awaiting the withdrawal of volunteers. AN INNOCUOUS ATTACK FIFTY BOMBS DROPPED, - BARCELONA, June 20. (Received June 21, at 10.30 a.xn.) Six planes innocuously dropped 50 bombs in an air raid this morning. BRITISH SHIPPING CASUALTIES LONDON, June 20. (Received June 21, at 1 p.m.) In the House of Commons Mr R. A. Butler said that three British ships had been sunk and 10 seriously damaged, 43 sustaining lesser damage, in the course of attacks by aircraft since the beginning of the civil war in Spain. Twenty-three lives had been lost in these attacks, at least 13 being Britishers. Five protests had been addressed to General Franco.
