COMMUNITY SINGING
The weekly community sing will bo held in the Strand Theatre (by courtesy of Fuller-Hay ward) on Friday at 12.15. An invitation has been sent to the members of the English women’s hockey team, and it is hoped that they will attend. Mr Walter Mitchell (baritone), who has been in Australia for the past 10 years, will assist. Mr Mitchell was one of Dunedin’s leading singers, and has done a great deal of broadcasting during his absence. Mr H. P. Desmoulins will be. the leader, and a good programme of old and new popular songs is being arranged. Mr A. Pettitt will be at the piano, and Mrs M‘lntyre, who is in charge of tho stall, would be pleased to receive flowers and goods. Proceeds are for the mayor’s relief of distress fund. Cheerios should be sent in early to the secretary (Mr J. F. Himburg), so as to avoid disappointment.
