LOCAL ACTIVITIES
SEVERAL NEW DWELLINGS With nine days still to go before the end of the month, quite a large number of permits for building projects in and around Dunedin have already been taken out during June. None of these is for any new business premises in the city, practically all permits issued representing dwellings to be erected. The most expensive dwelling to be built will be a composite and wooden structure in Alva street, at a cost exceeding £4,000. Several further Government houses are also to be built at prices varying from about £9OO to £1,400. The usual number of permits for repairs and alterations to existing premises have also been issued
