PARISH PRIEST FOR 21 YEARS
BURIAL OF FATHER HENRY 1,600 MOURNERS PRESENT fPEB United Press Association. I BLENHEIM, June 20. The first Roman Catholic pastor buried at Blenheim, Father Henry le Bouteiller, who was generally known as Father Henry, was interred to-day in the presence or over 1,000 mourners, the funeral being one of .the largest seen in Marlborough. After 21"years* work in the Blenheim parish Father Henry was transferred a few months ago to Nelson, where he became ill, his death occurring in Christchurch on Friday. Eleven visiting priests participated in the obsequies, the_ panegyrist being Father Cullen, of Nelson, who was a fellow-student of the dead priest.
Father Henry, who. was 57 years_ of ago, was bom in Prance. After serving in the'London branch of a French mercantile house ho studied in France and Belgium, and at ' Greenmeadows, Hawke’s Bay, for the priesthood. Ho spent practically, all the years of his priesthood in Marlborough. .
