Those present were:—Lady Sidey, Mesdames Dykes, Fitzgerald, Gallaway, Glendining, Haggitt, Mao Lean, Melville, Phillips, Shaud, Sim, Stuart, Smith, Taverner, Wright, and Misses Duthie. Mrs Batham spoke of the success or the recent refresher course, _ and thanked the members of the council, of the local committees, and of the stall for their co-operation and assistance in the many demonstrations and functions. She also welcomed Mrs Stuart, the newly-elected chairwoman at St. Kilda, to her first council meeting. Notice was received from the New Zealand Free Kindergarten Union secretary of a conference to be held in August in Wellington, and several remits were drawn up for consideration at that time. Mrs Gallaway reported that arrangements were well in hand for the bookstall at the Winter Show, and that magazines, hooks, and playing cards might be left at Messrs Charles Begg’s. Tentative arrangements were made for the annual street day, which would bo held this month, and Mesdames J. Sim and A. S. Moody were appointed conveners. The directors reported that attendances were being well maintained. A number of children had gone on to the primary schools, but their places had been filled, and the roll numbers were practically the same as last term.
